Things I Have Made

Like I said in a recent post, I have been sewing a lot lately and these are some of the things I have made...

This was a really simple potato sack dress that I made with some leftover fabric, and ribbon.

This is an apron that I made for a bridal shower I am going to. Brittany Laurie made a really cute one and posted the pattern on the Harvest Women's Virtue website.

This one of my favorite things to make. It is a car seat canopy. I made the first one for my friend Alicia, and I loved the way it turned out so I made another.

Adah Update

It's been a while since I have updated on Adah. She is almost 11 months old and into EVERYTHING, but her favorite is the dogs water dish. I have made great use if the hand me down baby gates someone gave us! She is crawling so fast and I have a hard time keep up after her. She pulls herself up on everything, and I am thinking it is not going to be long before she is walking!

She has 4 teeth now, and they are coming in so fast! She is making great use of them with her food. She loves all kinds of food which is so comforting to me because Jon and I are both very picky eaters. For a long time, I thought she was going to be picky because she didn't like her baby food, but then I started giving her real food and she loves it! She must have a mature pallet!

She is still BFing a few times during the day. I would like to start weaning her around her first birthday, but I have to say I am liking that I can almost eat anything without gaining weight!

This is a dress that I made for her.

It makes me sad that she wants nothing to do with the headbands I have made her, or any headbands for that matter.

Things I Enjoy

I have always been the kind of girl that would rather buy something than make it. I never understood why people would go to the fabric store and buy fabric for clothes when there are perfectly good clothes just waiting to be bought at the store. Then recently that all changed.

When I discovered etsy.com (I would like to start a store if I can find the time)I realized there was a whole new world of not just making things but making cute thing exactly the way you want it! Jon has even said that he is amazed that I have transformed into a cooking, cleaning, sewing, blogging superwomen. I am not going to say that I have made my own clothes or anything, but I have made a few really cute baby things, and an apron for a friend. I have also realized, it is something I enjoy!

When things are just spinning out of control at home, or wherever, I can completely control this one little thing I am creating. Jon, being pastor, can be gone a lot in the evenings, and as much as I would like to, I cant go to every Jr. High service we have with a baby. I go on Friday nights, and that is pushing it honestly. When he is gone all day and into the night, I really miss him. You can only talk baby talk for so long. :) So lately, I have been sewing or crafting when he is gone at night. I set up my stuff in front of the TV after the baby is in bed and work on a project. I can generally finish it by the time he gets home. So, it helps me pass the time, and I have something to show for it!

Soon, I will post a "show and tell" of what I have made.
