We had also received a gift card & check for Joseph & the day after the party I asked hubby if we could go & use them to get a toy chest. Hubby was thrilled with that idea & it's working really great for us.

I let him have 2-3 toys out of the toy chest at a time & he always goes over to the toy chest & looks in when he's bored with what he has & wants something different. He always has access to his books & small toys, they are not in the toy chest. And his 3 big toys (ride & stride lion, the toy that stands on legs--I don't know what it's called, but I've Adah with the same toy in her pics), & a big ball) are also always available, it's just the in between stuff that we are limiting. I think it's also good because it teaches Joseph to put things away when he's tired of them in order to get something else.

And as soon as Joseph goes down for a nap or at bedtime everything is picked up & put back in it's place, & it doesn't even take 5 minutes to do it.

I do housecleaning about once a week (usually on Fridays), dusting, mopping, vacuuming, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. I don't do all of them every week usually, but I'll do half of them each week & trade off & then it all gets done every other week. But that's just the actual cleaning part of it. Tidying things up we just do as we go, never put it off til later to let it build up. That's just the way we are.

As for clothing, we just don't have enough space to have clothes in the drawer that don't fit. As soon as something fits too snug when I take it off Joseph it goes into a give-away bag in our garage & it's gone for good. When the give-away bag is full we give it away & start a new one.

Tidyness is just very important to my hubby & me. It affects our mood alot. We always jokingly say we're OCD, maybe we are, I don't know, I don't think we're REALLY OCD, we just like things neat & organized.Frau Guten Taghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16653229285252138595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510134897232881844.post-22167508059326978182010-04-28T15:21:20.102-07:002010-04-28T15:21:20.102-07:00For me it has helped having a routine. I quickly wipe down the counters. Then during the day as I use a dish I put it right into the dishwasher instead of letting it sit in the sink. For the living room I keep a laundry basket that gets filled up with things that need to be put away and I do that when the kids have gone to bed. The bedrooms get done at night after bedtime. The bathrooms get done on the weekends. And laundry I do a load a day so it's never a big task. I hope some of that helps. Cleaning is a never ending task. It would also help you a ton if you could set up a playdate with your MIL to take her for a few hours every other week to do deep cleaning.Kristinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12211874007077660506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7510134897232881844.post-17348374159181604542010-04-28T12:27:05.417-07:002010-04-28T12:27:05.417-07:00So funny that you posted this because I was just w...So funny that you posted this because I was just working on a post about cleaning and came across this link: http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/clean-your-house-using-the-power-of-ten-115345

I was kind of already implementing the ideas but not in 10 min. Sounds like it could really work.Aliciahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14112782232500451067noreply@blogger.com
